    In 1990, Doug Davidson started New South Construction Company Inc. in an economy that wasn’t very welcoming for construction businesses.

    Two decades later, that experience is serving Davidson and New South well by helping them to ride out an even tougher economic climate without having to lay off any employees — quite a feat for a construction company amid one of the toughest real estate markets in recent memory.



  • Savannah Country Day School - Silver LEED Certified
     

    New South Construction builds first LEED certified school in the City of Savannah. 

    PRLog (Press Release) (SAVANNAH, GA) The Savannah Country Day School Lower School has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification, becoming the first school in the City of Savannah to have a LEED-certified campus building. The 55,000-square-foot Lower School building, which opened its doors to students in grades 1-5 in August 2008, has numerous environmentally conscious features that contributed to the certification.

    MILLEDGEVILLE — Officials from Georgia’s corrections community, state government and local officials gathered Monday to officially break ground on a new private prison in south Baldwin County.

    The $80 million facility will be constructed by New South Construction for The GEO Group. GEO won the bid over then competitors Corrections Corporation of America and the Cornell Company. GEO has since acquired the Cornell Company, placing it among the largest private corrections corporations in the world.

    Hundreds of local contractors jammed a Tuesday afternoon meeting at Hampton Inn on Douglas Boulevard, trying to get a slice of the $120 million county jail project pie.

    The 4 p.m. meeting was an information session held by Turner/New South Construction, head contractors for the Douglas County law enforcement center, which has been termed “the largest law enforcement project in the United States.”
