Doug Davidson Awarded 18th Golden Hammer Award

The American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) recently awarded Douglas C. Davidson, President of New South Construction Company, the prestigious Golden Hammer Award.

The 18th Golden Hammer Banquet was held at the prestigious Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta, GA on April 17, 2009. This venue selection held special significance to Mr. Davidson, as New South Construction is currently constructing at $25 million renovation and addition to this historic landmark.

Mr. Davidson was selected by the Golden Hammer Award Committee for always upholding himself and New South Construction Company to the highest standards, building, in a short period of time, one of the most respected companies in the Southeast, and giving his time and talents to our community and industry.

The Atlanta Chapter of the Professional Estimators Association of America began awarding the Golden Hammer Award in 1982. Proceeds from the annual Golden Hammer Award banquets have established more than 100 scholarships to Georgia Tech, Southern Polytechnic University, Georgia Southern University and the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA). The 18th Golden Hammer banquet raised over $15,000 and will provide 20 scholarships.

Past recipients of the Golden Hammer Award are: Doyle Butler, Tommy Flagler, Ira Hardin, Alvin Barge, John Williams, Jack Pinkerton, Cliff Glover, Marvin Black, Herman Russell, Larry Gellerstedt, Norman Koplon, Chris Humphreys, Bob Silverman, Raymond Moody, Jim Griffin, Bill Pinto and Ted Hudgins.
