On June 10, 2008 Georgia Branch, AGC installed Douglas C. (Doug) Davidson as the 2008-09 Chapter President. Doug is founder and President/CEO of New South Construction Company, Inc., which was recently named #26 in Atlanta’s 50 Fastest Growing Private Companies by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. New South employees voted the company one of Atlanta’s 2007 Best Places to Work coming in #4 in the same publication's small employer category. During New South’s 18 year history, the firm has completed a diverse range of projects including special-use facilities and industrial, aviation and criminal justice buildings, just to name a few.

Mr. Davidson received his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from Auburn University. He is an active member of the Atlanta Rotary Club, the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and Forward Atlanta. He is a Board member on the Greater Atlanta Economic Alliance, Sheltering Arms, and the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA) where he also served as a Past President. He is also involved in Auburn alumni activities and his local church in Duluth.

Much of Mr. Davidson’s personal and business success is attributed to a business philosophy of “doing what you say you will do, when you say you will do it and doing it right the first time.” This is coupled with his strong belief in “servant leadership” that emphasizes the dignity and contributions of individual workers in the construction industry and the actions these individuals take to express their concern and care for others around them. Mr. Davidson is a firm believer that random acts of kindness and giving are contagious and the cornerstone of what it means to be an effective ‘servant leader.’

He is committed to finding more ways for those in the construction industry to give back to their respective communities. “I intend to do my part in instilling this leadership approach and my core beliefs to benefit the construction industry in Georgia during my term as President of the Georgia Branch, AGC. What we can accomplish together in the coming year can greatly impact the image of our industry and help address our workforce shortage by attracting new workers,” says Davidson. He and his wife have two children and both are native Atlantans, residing in Gwinnett County.

During the convention's closing dinner, newly installed Chapter President, Doug Davidson, announced the members of the 2008-2009 Board of Directors.
