ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE - AVIONICS FACILITY Project Overview
This is a design-build project which includes the demolition of an existing hangar facility to include site paving and utilities. The demolished material was abated of lead and asbestos and then recycled and / or landfill diverted. The new construct is for an Avionics facility on the site of demolished hangar. This facility serves as a maintenance and repair facility for US Air Force Avionics equipment. The building is a single story prefabricated metal building with a standing seam metal roof and non-load bearing CMU walls with brick veneer. Interior build out includes office space, training rooms, conference room, rest room and shower facilities, mechanical, electrical, and communications rooms. The majority of the facility is a production area with a secured open storage room requiring secret clearance. The open storage area provides two rows of four plug-in disconnect type electrical bus ducts. This provides flexibility of use for the 60 and 400 hertz power systems, as well as 120/208, 277/480, and 230/400 voltages. The facility also includes a sally port type shipping and receiving area complete with overhead monorail hoists for loading and unloading. Site work includes rework and expansion of an existing parking area, and bringing new power, fiber communications, CATV, sanitary, and chilled water supply and return to the new building location. Project is purusing LEED Silver Certification.
