Municipal - CANTON CITY HALL
CANTON CITY HALL Project Overview
The Canton City Hall project is a complete renovation of the First Baptist Church of Canton built in the 1920’s. The renovation includes the removal of all interior partitions, ceilings and flooring throughout the operational areas of the church. The sanctuary includes renovating with new flooring, paint and repairing detailing as the area is turned into the new civic court.
The new office areas include areas for Planning and Zoning, Building Permitting, Water Department, Court Accounting, Information Technology and all City Government including the offices of the Mayor and City Manager. Several of these facets of city government were previously located in different buildings throughout the city and the renovation enabled the city to localize all departments to one building. The work also included the renovation of the third floor of the building which provided new quarters for publicly attended City Council Meetings as well as areas for future office expansion.
The renovation also includes a building addition consisting of a new building elevator and lobby entrance. Sitework includes all new parking, underground utilities, landscaping as well as a new paving surface. The building entrance area includes a new concrete paver courtyard complete with circular stairs and landscape planters.
