GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY - RIM LAB Project Overview
The Georgia Institute of Technology Robotics and Intelligent Machines (RIM) Lab was constructed on the Second Floor of the existing College of Computing. The RIM Lab consists of a 14,000 sf interior build out that will house Georgia Tech’s rapidly growing robotics research and development program. The new RIM Lab includes laboratory space, student lounge/study areas, faculty offices, student work stations, as well as a research library. The construction included suspended Compasso ceilings, aluminum storefront glass walls, a maple veneer display wall, a complete HVAC upgrade and many other unique finishes.
The College of Computing remained fully occupied during the construction of the new RIM Lab. New South succeeded in delivering the project, located in an occupied building on a busy college campus, with no interruption to the school’s faculty, students and guests. The construction was completed on December 15th allowing the College of Robotics & Intelligent Machines to move in before the start of the 2009 semester.
