Higher Education - EMORY SORORITY HOUSING
EMORY SORORITY HOUSING Project Overview
The Emory Sorority Housing Complex, situated on a 1.6-acre site in the heart of the Emory Campus, was designed to serve the growing need for student housing on campus. The 92,000 square foot, 5-story building brought ten university sororities together under one roof. The building was separated by demising walls into 10 different “housing units” to maintain the privacy of each chapter. Each unit contained a chapter room, living room, kitchen, and three levels of living space with four bedrooms per level. The striking brick and EIFS facade rises over 70 feet to compliment the Emory skyline, while maintaining the campus theme. The structure of the building is based around a hollow-core concrete plank system that allowed for the building to be completed in less than 12 months. The interior is conditioned with a state-of-the art HVAC system that allows for each of the bedroom inhabitants to adjust the temperature to their liking. With the environment in mind and the help of the advanced mechanical and electrical systems, the building achieved an outstanding Earth Craft rating.
