WESLEYAN SCHOOL YANCEY GYMNASIUM Project Overview
The Wesleyan School Yancey Gymnasium was built during the final building campaign known as “Completing the Campus.” One of the highlights of this project is the 16,000 square foot Bio-Channel Star wood flooring system that is used by many NBA and top ranked college teams throughout the nation. Yancey's wood sports floor received the Robbin's 2006 Sport Surfaces of the Year Maple Flooring Grand Prize. Upon entering the gym, guests enjoy dramatic views from the building's upper level which features a 360-degree Mondo walk-around with full perimeter viewing of the basketball area. Unique to the upper level, is the custom twelve foot Wesleyan Wolf Mondo logo located at the gym's entrance. This logo was intricately designed and cut with a water jet. The logo was assembled onsite similar to a jigsaw puzzle. In addition, the upper level features administration and coach's offices, a multipurpose room, and a concessions area. The lower level houses a full service weight room, boy's and girl's home/visitor locker rooms, as well as male and female coach's locker rooms.
