JACKSON COUNTY FIRE TRAINING CENTER Project Overview
The Jackson County Fire Training Center is comprised of a Fire Station, Live Fire Burn Building, and a Special Equipment Driving Course. The Fire Station is an inmate run facility and provides state-wide specialized fire training. This 12,000 sf facility includes a three bay garage, fire-fighter housing, training center, offices, dayroom and kitchen. The Live Fire Burn Building is a four-story building encompassing approximately 2,500 sf. Multiple rooms of the facility feature high-temperature lining and fire brick that are capable of withstanding temperatures up to 2,000 degrees. The facility consists of different training apparatuses and obstacles to simulate diverse training scenarios. The Special Equipment Driving Course is designed to allow for special equipment training on site. Composed of 8” gravel base and 8” 5000 psi concrete topping, this driving course will be one of only a few in the state of Georgia that will support heavy payload fire-fighting vehicles and equipment. A 50,000 gallon pump test station is onsite to provide maintenance and testing for the fire trucks and pump equipment.
