Criminal Justice and Public Buildings - CANTON CITY HALL
CANTON CITY HALL Project Overview
The Canton City Hall project was a complete renovation and addition of the First Baptist Church of Canton built in the 1920's. The renovation included the removal of all interior partitions, ceilings and flooring throughout the operational areas of the church. The sanctuary was also renovated with new flooring, paint and repaired detailing as the area was turned into the new civic court.
The new office areas included areas for Planning and Zoning, Building Permitting, Water Department, Court Accounting, Information Technology and all City Government including the offices of the Mayor and City Manager. Several of these facets of city government were previously located in different buildings throughout the city and the renovation enabled the city to localize all departments to one building. The work also included a new building elevator, entrance lobby and the renovation of the third floor of the building which provided new quarters for publicly attended City Council Meetings as well as areas for future office expansion.
