CAMP LEJEUNE - AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER AND AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE HANGAR Project Overview
New South, in partnership with F&S Mechanical, partially demolished and reconstructed an existing Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), raising it an additional 18 feet to accommodate the ever-changing surrounding environment of MCAS New River. In addition, the team will be demolishing the existing AS-504 Hangar and ATCT in order to make way for their construction of P652 VMMT-204 Maintenance Hangar Phase III.
The design-build construction of the P652 VMMT Hangar at Marine Corps Air Station(MCAS), New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina is a 46,263 sf addition to existing Hangar P651 and will provide testing and maintenance of the MV-22 Osprey aircraft and accommodation for three (3) fully spread aircraft and one folded. The hangar bay includes a 7-Ton overhead bridge crane, fabric hangar doors, and an uplifting AFFF fire suppression system. The first floor houses shop space, restrooms, and mechanical and electrical rooms, while the second floor includes administration space, locker rooms, training facilities, flight line operations, and additional support spaces.
